Team Bonding At It's Finest

Today was amazing to say the least.
It began with more orientation meetings and talking about jobs (which I still don't have)
Then lunch with some more orientation until 3:30

We had free time until dinner, and I spent that time writing thank-you's and talking to Brandon. :)
The fun began at dinner when my team and I bonded over silly faces and prank scheming.
We continued laughing all the way to the beach where we set up towels and began sharing our testimonies.

The pier.

So pretty.

We had gotten through 3/4 of the first girl when the clouds broke and it began to pour.
We laughed and finished hers then moved our things under the pier so they might be semi-dry.
We put testimonies on hold and ran into the ocean, which was surprisingly warm and waded out in our clothes.

We stayed in the ocean for maybe five minutes then decided to head back to UNF to dry off and continue pouring our hearts out to each other.

We came back and showered off, started some laundry, and heard another testimony full of tears :)

We then had to go to our mixer game (the clock game) and meet the many people whom we still don't know. It was actually really fun, and I met some cool people while sharing awkward information that we were suposed to ask each other.

Now we are rounding up the troops to get back to our testimonies.

God is so good. I love my team, and we are really beginning to click and get a personality. As hard as it is to be vulnerable with each other (especially since we met yesterday), we are all doing our best, but it is definitely challenging us all. We're all in this to grow in our walk with Jesus and the only way to do that is to let others speak truth into our lives, and I think we're all prepared to accept the truth.

Please be praying for my team as we continue to grow together and grow in our walk with Jesus.
Pray that God will show his faithfulness in providing me with a job. We will be going out into Jacksonville tomorrow to look for jobs.

We serve a great God, my friends. He is here, and he is working.

Thank you so much for supporting me in my summer ministry with your prayers and financial support.

You all rock. :)

Drive 1200 miles: Check.

Three days and 1200 miles later, we have arrived.
In Jacksonville, Fl.
Boom.

I would like to give a shout out to my parents for teaching me how to:
1) Read a map
2) Drive. And drive well for that matter.

Things that came in handy these past few days.

We drove to Kentucky and stayed there the first night. It was actually awful.
I had a migrane and was sick. Not a good start to the trip.

This is a ghetto gas station we stopped at.

But, it had a pretty view outside! :) This is my car buddy, Amelia.

The next day, we drove to Valdosta, Georgia.
I think this is around Chattanooga, TN.

It was pretty stormy the last 24 hours of the drive.
Our sleep in Georgia was a less comfortable place to sleep (on the floor), but I felt much better.
I walked around in the rain, and talked to my friend Courtney :)

Then today, we headed to Jacksonville.
We arrived here around noon.

So much excitement was going on.
I met my team leader, Jill! She's adorable, and very sweet.

And this is my team! :)

We all share a room, and will be doing Bible study together. I'm real excited.

That is about all I know! We have orientation later tonight, where I'll be meeting everyone else.
I'm so excited to be back with the boys from Dordt!!

Bags Packed, and Ready to Roll

Bags Packed: Check
Music transfered to phone: Check

Leaving for Jax 2012 in T-8 hours.
I'm feeling very unprepared, very overpacked, but we're getting there.

Travel plans for the next few days includes driving to Kentucky tomorrow, driving through all the huge cities Monday (Atlanta and such), then we'll be to UNF before noon on Tuesday!

I'm pretty excited. I think.

These pictures are from yesterday and today.

We decided to play in the rain, then it decided not to rain.

Sitting in a mound of clothes, not wanting to pack.

Last night out with Kels. :)

Welp, that's all for now. I need to finish up packing and preparing for tomorrow.
Cheers to summer 2012!

T Minus One Week

So. T - 1 week until my departure for Jax. Here is a list of my thoughts on the matter.

1) I have no job yet. AHHHHHHHH. I need a job...

2) I have to pack for the two months of summer in one small bag. This includes bedding, clothes, and anything else I need/want. AHHHHH I'm an over-packer to say the least...this is not going to go well.

3) I'm excited in general, however, despite my AHHH things as listed above. I am excited to meet and make friendships with some GIRLS. Like, don't get me wrong, I love the Dordt boys, but they're just not girls. :)

4) I'm very excited to be in the Word, and learning from very wise people.

5) I'm excited to go to Florida, and the beach. :) Like, I love my Iowa, but a beach in Iowa is not the same as a beach in Florida.

Thats about it for that...

But, in the next week, I have many things to do. My friend Rachel is coming on Monday to hang out, and then my wonderful boyfriend Brandon is coming on Thursday to meet the rest of the fam. Haha, sucker. ;)
I need to do laundry, and clean my mess of a room. Wa-hoo.

So there you have it. More to come soon, I'm sure. :)

Hello Summer.

It has been nearly a year since I've updated this thing. However, with summer's arrival, and my new plans for summer, I thought I should again attempt this blogging thing.

Update on life:

I just finished up my junior year at Dordt College. I'm dating a fantastic man (Brandon Wilson), who just graduated! We spent all of yesterday doing graduation festivities, and moving ourselves out of the dorms.

This summer, I'm going to Jacksonville, Florida, with the Navigators to do STP! It will be a crazy summer of growth and ministry, but I cannot wait! So, stay tuned if you want to keep up with my summer and learn what God is doing in my heart.
